Where to Stay Near Yosemite: Our SkyRun Vacation Rental Picks in Mariposa
Updated: Sep 29

Planning a Yosemite trip and looking for somewhere comfortable to stay between adventures?
We think Mariposa makes a pretty great home base.
You can spend a day exploring Yosemite National Park, another exploring the Sierra Foothills by e-bike, and your evenings relaxing at a local vacation rental instead of spending your entire trip in the car.
That’s why Yosemite E-Biking has partnered with SkyRun Yosemite to highlight a few of our favorite vacation rental options in and around Mariposa.
Why Stay in Mariposa?
Mariposa is a small Gold Rush town along Highway 140 and one of the gateways to Yosemite National Park.
But you don't have to spend your entire Yosemite vacation inside the park.
Some of our favorite days happen right here in the foothills—riding e-bikes, exploring local roads, learning about Mariposa's Gold Rush history, stopping for gold panning or rock climbing, grabbing a meal downtown, and getting a different perspective on the Yosemite region.
And when you're ready to slow down, you have a comfortable place to come home to.
Our SkyRun Vacation Rental Picks
SkyRun has several vacation rentals around Mariposa, and we've picked four that pair particularly well with a Yosemite E-Biking getaway.
Fairgrounds Farmhouse
Traveling with the whole family or a group of friends?
Fairgrounds Farmhouse sleeps up to eight guests and has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, giving everyone a little room to spread out.
There's a full kitchen, outdoor space, a game room, pool table, ping pong, and plenty of places to gather after a day of exploring.
It's also close to downtown Mariposa, so you're never far from local restaurants, shops, and the rest of town.
Our take: This is a fun option for a group trip where the house is part of the vacation—not just a place to sleep.
Granite View Retreat
Looking for something quieter?
Granite View Retreat sleeps four guests with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and sits among oak trees and granite boulders.
It's a peaceful setting for couples, two couples traveling together, or a small family who wants to spend their Yosemite trip enjoying both the park and the surrounding foothills.
Our take: A great home base when you want your evenings to feel just as much like a getaway as your days.
Boulder Creek Retreat
For a little more of a tucked-away Sierra feeling, take a look at Boulder Creek Retreat.
This two-bedroom, two-bathroom retreat sleeps four and is surrounded by granite boulders and a seasonal creek. There's private outdoor space and a pool table for relaxing after a day outside.
Our take: Ride, explore, come home, and do absolutely nothing for a while. That's a pretty good Yosemite vacation.
Riverside Retreat
Bringing a bigger group?
Riverside Retreat has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and space for up to eight guests.
It's another option for families or friends who want to travel together while still having plenty of room to relax at the end of the day.
Our take: More people, more adventure—and plenty of space to regroup afterward.
Make Your Stay Part of the Adventure
One of our favorite things about visiting Yosemite is realizing how much there is to experience outside Yosemite Valley.
Your trip could look something like this:
Day 1: Arrive in Mariposa, settle into your SkyRun rental, explore downtown, and grab dinner.
Day 2: Head out with Yosemite E-Biking for a guided ride through the Sierra Foothills. Depending on your tour, you might add gold panning or rock climbing to the adventure.
Day 3: Spend the day exploring Yosemite National Park.
Day 4: Sleep in, enjoy your vacation rental, wander around Mariposa, or get back on two wheels for another local adventure.
There's no rule that says every minute of a Yosemite vacation needs to be spent inside the park.
Sometimes the best part is slowing down enough to experience the place you're staying, too.
Stay Local. Ride Local. Explore Yosemite.
If you're planning a Yosemite trip, consider making Mariposa your home base.
Stay in a local SkyRun vacation rental, spend a day exploring the foothills with Yosemite E-Biking, and give yourself enough time to experience the town, the landscape, and the little adventures along the way.
